Each year a select number of students are recognized for their efforts in education and extracurricular activities.
The CCBA Scholarship recognizes local High School students of Chinese descent with at least one grandparent being Chinese, for scholastic achievement in their efforts in continuing their education at the college level and to bridge CCBA to the youth of the Chinese American community in the Fresno area.
Since its origin with the class of 2009, over $50,000 has been awarded. This effort was led by Professor John Cho who successfully pushed for the CCBA Board to recognize our youth with community acknowledgement for doing well academically along with a monetary encouragement as they get ready to embark on their collegiate journey.
“I just want to pave the way for our future returning (students) to remember their Fresno roots and maybe give back one day,” said Professor Cho when he had proposed the scholarship idea to the Board of CCBA elders.
Congratulations to our scholarship recipients for 2023. We were amazed by the outstanding community service and academic excellence achieved by the applicants. The awards banquet was held on March 4, 2023 in Fresno, CA.
